Coronavirus map now contains information on the number of patients in primary health care, specialised medical care and intensive care
The coronavirus map of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) has information on coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Finland with laboratory confirmation. As of 11 May 2021, information on the number of COVID-19 patients in primary health care, specialised medical care and intensive care as well as changes in the number of patients in relation to the previous day in the whole country will also be published on the map.

The number of patients in hospital care in the whole country presented on the map – the statistics cube also provides information by specific catchment areas
The number of patients in primary health care, specialised medical care and intensive care as well as changes in the number of patients in relation to the previous day in the entire country is presented on the map.
The statistics cube provides information retrospectively by specific catchment areas and throughout the country for the period during which the data have been collected. Patient numbers are reported by special catchment area to protect patient privacy.
New data to be published in the statistics cube
- Ongoing inpatient care in specialised medical care wards (as of 7 December 2020)
- Ongoing inpatient care in primary health care wards (as of 7 December 2020)
- Ongoing inpatient care in wards (before 7 December 2020)
The inpatient care covered both specialised medical care and primary health care wards before separate information started being collected on each of them. - Ongoing intensive care in ICUs
The information on the map on new cases is based on data from the National Infectious Diseases Register. The information now published is based on the information reported by the hospital districts to THL.
The information on the coronavirus map is updated daily at noon.
You can download the source material for the map and statistics cube from the open interface to your own applications. Patient numbers in hospitals will also be published as open data later in May. You can already view the data on the statistics cube: COVID-19 patients in hospital
