If an adult returning to Finland does not need to take a coronavirus test, the accompanying children do not need to avoid contact either

Publication date 9 Sep 2021

THL has updated their Travelling during the coronavirus pandemic website and specified the information about children returning to Finland. If the adults returning from a journey do not need to take a coronavirus test, the recommendation to avoid contact with others does not apply to them or children travelling with them.

THL strongly recommends that those returning from a journey avoid contact with others until they have received a negative a coronavirus test result for the test taken 3 to 5 days (72 to 120 hours) after entering the country.

The recommendation to avoid contacts also applies to those born in 2006 or later returning from the journey with adults when the adults are legally required to participate in coronavirus tests on arrival.

If the adults do not need to take a coronavirus test, the recommendation to avoid contact with others does not apply to them or the children travelling with them. The children that have returned from a journey can then return to early childhood education and care, pre-primary education or school immediately.

You do not need to participate in coronavirus tests on arrival, if you return to Finland from a country or an area where the incidence of coronavirus disease and the prevalence of the mutated virus do not cause a special risk of spreading the epidemic.

Those arriving from countries other than those with a low risk of COVID-19 do not need to participate in testing if they have reliable proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination course or a coronavirus disease during the last six months that has been confirmed in a laboratory.
