An updated version of the Koronavilkku application was released on 17 June. The version contains new instructions in accordance with the national coronavirus guidelines for vaccinated persons or those who have had COVID-19 and who have received an exposure notification. An accessibility statement has also been added to the application.

In addition to general instructions, the application will now provide targeted instructions to persons who have already received one or two vaccine doses or who have had COVID-19. The guidelines take into account the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare’s changed quarantine practices for asymptomatic persons who have received the vaccine and had COVID-19. For example, asymptomatic persons who have received two doses of the vaccine, and more than a week has elapsed since their last dose, do not need to quarantine after receiving an exposure notification.

Use of the Koronavilkku application will continue normally after the version update. The changes made to the new update version will only be seen by recipients of exposure notifications.

On most phones, Koronavilkku updates automatically. However, we recommend that you make sure that the app has been updated. You can check by visiting the app store (Google Play or Apple App Store).

The corresponding update for Huawei’s AppGallery will be released later.

Koronavilkku is a convenient and effective way to prevent the spread of coronavirus. In spite of the improved disease figures and the progress of vaccinations, Koronavilkku should still be kept activated. Also, even if you have received one or two doses of the vaccine, you must still get tested if you experience symptoms.
