Quarantine practices revised for those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and those who have already had the disease
COVID-19 quarantine practices will be revised for those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have already suffered from the disease. If you have been exposed to coronavirus, you will not be quarantined in the following cases, unless the Communicable Disease Control Physician decides otherwise in his/her assessment:
- You have received two vaccine doses and it has been at least one week since the second dose
- You have received one vaccine dose within 6 months after you have been diagnosed with coronavirus, and it has been at least one week since your vaccination
- You have a medical certificate showing that you have been infected with coronavirus for less than six months ago
The Communicable Disease Control Physician carries out a risk assessment of the exposure to coronavirus, considering factors that may affect the efficiency of the vaccine. These include the local virus variant situation, as well as age and possible underlying health condition.
The revised quarantine guidelines also apply to healthcare and non-medical care personnel.
The guidelines on coronavirus infections, as well as guidelines for long-term care units have also been updated accordingly. Separate guidelines are available for hospital patients and residents of nursing homes.
Even after vaccinations, it is important to wash your hands and use a mask
The coronavirus vaccine provides good protection against coronavirus disease and its severe forms. However, the vaccine does not completely eliminate the risk of infection and transmitting the disease. Therefore, it is important that those who have received one or two doses of vaccine also take care of physical distances, wear face masks, wash their hands, and follow other guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.
