Weekly report on Koronavilkku presents up-to-date statistics on application use

Publication date 18 Jun 2021

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare has published a site for reporting key statistics on Koronavilkku application. The report presents weekly figures related to Koronavilkku in graph and table form. The site reports the number of Koronavilkku users, the number of Omaolo symptom assessments made through the application, and the number of unlock codes used to report an infection.

Information on coronavirus infections from the National Infectious Diseases Register is also included in the report. The report will be updated once a week on Wednesdays, except in July. As an exception to the other figures, the number of Koronavilkku users will be reported every two weeks due to delays in collating the statistics.

The statistics go back to September 2020 for all other data besides the number of Koronavilkku users, as the automatic collection of statistics on user numbers only started on 21 November 2020. Public reporting will improve the transparency of Koronavilkku application.

Having Koronavilkku enabled is still necessary

The report indicates that the number of Koronavilkku users has dropped from the peak figures. Despite the progress made with vaccinations and lower infection numbers, the basic guidelines for preventing coronavirus infections should not be forgotten. In addition to adequate safety distances and hand hygiene, Koronavilkku application is an important part of the measures aimed at controlling the epidemic, which is why it is advisable to keep the application enabled also in the summer.

People are more likely to be on the move in the summer than in the winter and meet greater numbers of unknown people. Koronavilkku will help you notice situations in which you might be exposed, do the right thing after them and thus minimise the risks. Having Koronavilkku enabled on your phone is no extra trouble, and the application will also provide instructions for people who receive an exposure notification after being vaccinated.
