Mahangu-flour.

Mahangu or pearl millet is the staple food of 50% of the Namibian population, especially in the Central and Northern regions. It is resistant to drought and harsh growing conditions. The pearls are pounded into flour, cooked and the nutritious porridge belongs to every meal. Photo: Ronald Wiman. 

Namibian Government's Action Plan towards Prosperity for All

Namibia launched a new overall development action plan recently. The Action Plan contains, inter alia, a chapter on Social Progression. The key issues in this chapter are: hunger, poverty, housing and sanitation, infant and maternal mortality and vocational education and training.
