Project pageThe Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) participates in the Joint Action addressing Dementia and Health (JADE Health) under the EU4Health programme. The project focuses broadly on dementia and cerebrovascular diseases. Finnish experts contribute to several work packages (WPs), with particular emphasis on WPs 7 and 8.
WP7 aims to map existing prevention strategies and models in participating countries, estimate the number of preventable dementia and cerebrovascular disease cases in different EU countries, as well as develop and pilot evidence-based training materials for healthcare professionals, the general population, and risk groups.
WP8 develops care and service pathways post dementia diagnosis and provides support for people with dementia, their families, professionals, and stakeholders. Key outputs include an international literature review of effective care practices, pilot projects on post-diagnosis care pathways in 17 participating countries, and recommendations for developing care pathways and practices.
Goals
The main objective is to improve and support the health of EU citizens by reducing the burden of dementia and other neurological disorders at both individual and societal levels.
Implementation
- Seventeen EU countries participate carrying out more than 40 pilot projects during the project period.
- The project includes 10 work packages.
