Course Descriptions and Learning Objectives
In this online training, you will get an overview of what biosafety and biosecurity mean and how biorisks are managed, especially in a laboratory context. During the course, you will learn about the concepts of biosafety and biosecurity, legislation related to them, various risk management and protection methods, and how to carry out a biorisk assessment. In addition, you will hear what intentionally caused biological risks are and how they are prevented.
Duration and content of the training
The training includes three 3.5-hour sessions. The training includes the following sections:
- Biosafety and biosecurity, hazard classification of biological agents and laboratory isolation levels
- Biosafety and biosecurity legislation
- Laboratory-acquired infections
- Engineering control methods in laboratories
- Personal protective equipment
- Safe working practices
- Biorisk management and risk assessment
- Biosecurity and misuse of biological agents
- BSL3 –laboratories

The training is particularly suitable for those working in microbiological laboratories, but also provides tools and knowledge for managing biorisks in other places.
