EU-SPS capacity development work in Indonesia

Focus on Disability Inclusion in cooperation with the UNPRPD programme

The EU-SPS/Finland’s capacity development activities in Indonesia aim at enhancing the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs) living in poverty through the strengthening of capacities of the social workers (at dinas sosial and panti sosial levels).

The EU-SPS/Finland prepared a project on capacity development for disability inclusion in Indonesia. This was done in close consultation with GIZ-Indonesia, and together with UNPRPD (UN Partnership Fund for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities).

The UNPRPD is a joint disability mainstreaming fund of nine UN agencies, represented in Indonesia by UNESCO, and globally by UNDP. UNPRPD is an important strategic partner of Finland’s development cooperation, Finland being its largest sponsor globally.

The EU-SPS work on capacity development for disability inclusion in Indonesia was planned to be carried out with UN agencies currently partnering on UNPRPD Indonesia project coordinated by UNESCO. Due to contracting difficulties, the EU-SPS team in Finland is exploring new options for implementing the planned work on disability inclusion and the work in Indonesia is currently on hold.
