The general objective of the project was to support the independent living, social integration and employment for persons with disabilities in the City of Saint Petersburg. The project purpose supported this objective: it aimed to build capacity in modern approach to rehabilitation, in particular, with a special focus on accessibility in housing, social and physical environment and work life, among professionals working in the field of rehabilitation in Saint Petersburg and raise general awareness of the benefits of rehabilitation and social integration.

The project key results during 2008-2010 aimed at preparing a needs assessment concerning capacity building; analysing of information concerning persons with disabilities and proposals how to improve it for policy-making and rehabilitation; capacity building by seminars, workshops and study tours, in particular related to assistive technologies and services; preparing materials for these events; printing and publishing of capacity building materials within the limits of the budget.

The project supported a parallel project of establishing Functional Home within the premises of the Professional and Rehabilitation Centre in Vasily Island (later: PRC), Saint Petersburg.
