Maintenance and continuous development of existing services under MyHealth@EU infrastructure in Finland (MaCoDeExSe)

MaCoDeExSe (Maintenance and continuous development of existing services under MyHealth@EU infrastructure in Finland) is a project that ensures the operation and further development of cross-border healthcare services in use in Finland. The project is part of the European Union’s MyHealth@EU infrastructure, which enables the secure exchange of health data and continuity of care between EU countries. The project is implemented by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela).

The project addresses the changes required by the ongoing development of the eHDSI (MyHealth@EU) infrastructure. In addition, the onboarding of new Member States requires testing and validation work to be carried out in Finland. The project also maintains the interoperability of code systems, mappings and translations, and ensures the functionality of the services through testing and validation.

Finland develops cross-border healthcare services together with other EU countries as part of the MyHealth@EU infrastructure. In Finland, the services in use include electronic prescriptions, electronic dispensing of medicines and the patient summary.

Goals

  • Ensure the interoperability and continuous development of national and international structures for cross-border healthcare services.
  • Implement the changes required by the development of eHDSI/MyHealth@EU.
  • Carry out the necessary testing and validation work in Finland to enable new Member States to join the services.
  • Maintain the interoperability of code systems, mappings and translations.
  • Ensure the technical and semantic functioning of the services.

Implementation

The project maintains and develops cross-border healthcare services in production in Finland in cooperation with national stakeholders. The implementation is based on continuous development, where services are updated to respond to changes in the MyHealth@EU infrastructure.

THL is responsible for the semantic interoperability of the services as well as for regulations and essential requirements concerning patient information systems. Kela is responsible for the technical interoperability of the services and acts as the national contact point (NCPeH, National Contact Point for eHealth).
