Project page (in Finnish, STM)The Target programme for the prevention of home and leisure Injuries aims to prevent injuries that occur at home and during leisure time among children, young people, workingage adults, and older people.
The main injury types addressed in the programme are falls and fallingfromheight accidents (including sports injuries), poisonings, traffic accidents, drownings and watertransport accidents, fire safety, and the role of family members and close relatives in promoting safety.
Goals
The aim of the the Target programme is to reduce severe health losses and fatal injuries by 25 percent by the year 2030 compared to the 2020 level. During the implementation period 2026–2030, the objective is to prevent injuries through 31 national measures. Each measure has designated responsible parties and defined indicators for monitoring progress.
Implementation
The coordination and monitoring of the the Target programme are the responsibility of the Coordination group for the prevention of home and leisure injuries, appointed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) oversees the practical implementation of the programme.
Funding
The implementation of the programme is promoted primarily as part of the organisations' own strategic work.
