Projects

Research related to memory disorders at THL is mainly focused on risk and protective factors and prevention.

FINGER-study coordinated by THL was a proof-of-concept study showing that cognitive performance can be improved with a 2-year multidomain lifestyle intervention. Follow-up of the study is ongoing.

CAIDE-study is one of the few observation studies with decades of follow-up from midlife to old age. The dementia risk score is based on the CAIDE data.

LETHE (A personalized prediction and intervention model for early detection and reduction of risk factors causing dementia, based on AI and distributed Machine Learning) is developing a data-driven risk factor prediction model for older individuals at risk of cognitive decline, novel digital biomarkers and a digital enabled intervention based on the evolution of the FINGER study.
