THL Biobank Service Prices

THL Biobank provides the following services for researchers:

  1. Availability queries and Feasibility studies
  2. Administrative services such as preparation of agreements (MTA) and preparation of project-specific applications for register data permissions etc.
  3. Assembly of requested samples, including sample logistics and sample preparation
  4. Assembly of the requested project-specific phenotype data set including selection of subjects based on specific criteria
  5. Assembly of the requested project-specific omics data set including i.e. genome wide SNP data, custom chip data, whole exome sequencing data, whole genome sequencing data, RNA expression levels, methylation levels or NMR metabolomics data
  6. Administrative services for re-contacting of sample donors with specific attributes for new study proposals

THL Biobank is a not-for-profit biobank. It is accessible for both academic and private sector research and development projects. THL Biobank applies a cost-recovery pricing scheme for all researchers to cover direct project-related costs accrued from the administration, work and material compilation, as listed in the Basic price list below. In addition, for companies and researchers with commercial funding, underlying costs for the maintenance and development of the infrastructure will be allocated in part.

The total cost for the project may vary depending on the type and quantity of samples and/or data, and the length of access. It may be based on an annual data access fee in longer projects. Collaboration which promotes the biobank infrastructure and the return of results which enrich the value of the biobank material will be considered favourably in the pricing model.
