Project page (Finnish Cultural Foundation)Future Finland is a nationally and internationally unique initiative aimed at establishing a new national birth cohort in Finland, comprising children born between 2025 and 2029 and their families.
A multidisciplinary dataset will be collected from the cohort over time. By enabling the long-term analysis of this data, we aim to enhance the well-being of future generations and contribute to the sustainable development of society over the next hundred years.
Goals
The Future Finland dataset will serve as a foundation for multidisciplinary research, generating valuable insights into children's and families’ well-being, their living environments, and broader societal dynamics and transformations.
Future Finland offers a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding of Finnish society and shape it for future generations. It supports evidence-based decision-making and the development of services that more effectively respond to the needs of children and families.
Implementation
The data resource of Future Finland consists of two parts:
- Register data from the national registers
- In-depth data collection from families who have given their consent, including questionnaires on well-being and biological samples collected in healthcare settings.
