Prevention of Health Threats
The Prevention of Health Threats Unit
- improves the citizens’ and society’s preparedness to face health threats together with wellbeing services counties
- supports and, if necessary, conducts outbreak investigations and draws up national guidelines for infectious disease control
- directs, supports and develops national monitoring and surveillance systems for infectious diseases and the national vaccination programme
- supports wellbeing services counties in the prevention of healthcare-associated infections
- conducts surveillance of infectious diseases and evaluates infectious disease threats as well as the population-level impacts of vaccines
- organises training on vaccinations and the prevention of health threats
- participates in national and international research and development projects.
