The unit
- Monitors, researches and anticipates the health, wellbeing and functional capacity of Finland’s diverse population.
- Develops and maintains the knowledge base on health and wellbeing.
- Produces research-based interpretations and solutions to promote wellbeing in different population groups in future Finland.
- Provides expert support on cultural diversity.
The unit is divided into four teams.
Adult Wellbeing
Team Manager Tuija Jääskeläinen
The team researches, monitors and anticipates the development of adult wellbeing, health, and work ability and functional capacity, and the factors influencing them. It maintains and develops the knowledge base and infrastructure for population-based health and wellbeing monitoring and is responsible for the Healthy Finland survey.
Wellbeing of Children and Families
Team Manager Annamari Lundqvist
The team researches and monitors children’s wellbeing and implements the Future Finland study.
Youth Wellbeing
Team Manager Saara Rapeli
The team researches and monitors youth wellbeing through the School Health Promotion Study and through research and development projects.
Cultural Diversity
Team Manager Hannamaria Kuusio
The team produces research data and develops solutions to promote health, wellbeing, good population relations and safety. The team promotes equality and mainstreams the consideration of cultural diversity in THL’s activities and decision-making.
