Icehearts longitudinal study
Icehearts aims to provide long-term professional support for vulnerable children and adolescents and to prevent social exclusion and promote psychosocial well- being of vulnerable children and adolescents using team sport as a tool.
Aims
The study aims to investigate the psychosocial well-being of children participating in the programme and the perceived benefits and effects of the programme.
Implementation
- The study is based on a longitudinal study design starting in 2015 (children being seven years old) with five Icehearts teams and following the children participating in the programme till the age of 20.
- Mixed methods approach is used combining quantitative (questionnaires, register data) and qualitative (interviews, observation) research methods.
Partners
The study is conducted in collaboration with Icehearts ry, University of Tampere and University of Jaén (Spain).
