Programme for suicide prevention
The Suicide Prevention Program for 2020-2030 contains 36 proposals for measures to prevent suicide deaths in our country.
Objectives
Suicide deaths have been recorded in Finland since 1751. Suicide mortality has halved since 1990. A positive turnaround occurred during the National Suicide Prevention Project (1986–1996). However, the positive development cannot be expected to continue in Finland without measures to prevent suicide deaths.
Suicide prevention now requires intensification and more new means. The Suicide Prevention Program for 2020-2030 contains 36 proposals for measures to prevent suicide deaths in our country. The implementation and effectiveness of the measures contained in each issue are monitored using information collected separately as indicators.
