Searching for information wellbeing: Democracy, inclusion and wellbeing in the information society
Duration:
Unit at THL:
The project examines the relationship between information and wellbeing and its link to democracy and people's societal agency in the increasingly digitalised society.
The project will define the concept of information wellbeing and share it with scientists, decision-makers, experts, and communications professionals and journalists.
Objectives
The aim of the project is to study the relationship between information and wellbeing, define the concept of information wellbeing, and implement it for the use of stakeholders.
The concept of information wellbeing is used to clarify the factors affecting citizens' wellbeing and inclusion as well as the development of democracy in the current and future information society. The aim is to create proposals for actions that decision-makers and other public actors can take to strengthen the wellbeing and inclusion of citizens as well as democracy in our information society.
The project will examine information wellbeing as a scientific concept that can be applied in a multidisciplinary manner in social scientific health and wellbeing research.
Implementation
The implementation of the project is divided into three phases:
- we will examine the relationship between information and wellbeing in the existing literature
- we will organise stakeholder workshops and conduct a population survey to examine the perspectives and experiences of experts and citizens related to information wellbeing
- we will share the concept with stakeholders.
