Contact information of THL Biobank laboratory services

What information do the laboratory services need from the client before starting an assignment?

  • Name of the client
  • E-mail address
  • Telephone number
  • Delivery address for the samples and the name of the recipient
  • Invoicing address
  • Desired concentration of the samples (ng/µl)
  • Desired volume of the samples (µl)
  • Desired sample format (tube/plate)
  • Specification of the sample format (desired plate type, empty or duplicate samples, vertical or horizontal pipetting)
  • Other possible specifications (specific dilution buffer or other details)

What kinds of plates/tubes may be used for delivering the samples?

The standard equipment we provide, which are also included in the price, are either the Thermo Scientific 0.8ml plates (AB-0765) or the Thermo Scientific PCR plates (AB-0800). If there is need for other plate format, the customer can deliver the desired plates to the dilution laboratory and the plating can also be arranged this way. The aliquoting can also be done in the most common 1.5ml-2ml tubes which we provide as part of our standard equipment.

How is concentration of the DNA samples being measured by the laboratory services?

The DNA samples delivered to the client have been measured using the Picogreen method (Thermo Scientific, P11496). The Picogreen reagent forms a fluorescent complex only with an intact double-stranded DNA, and this ensures that the required concentration delivered to the client contains functional and intact DNA. If requested by the client, we can also deliver samples based on UV concentration measurements.
