This page contains questions and answers about the School Health Promotion study's municipality-specific and educational institutions' result service (Tableau) and the implementation of the survey.
Questions about the School health promotion study result service (Tableau)
At the top right of each page view, there is a green info button, which opens the help text for that view. At the bottom of the home page, you'll find a link to Tableau's general user instructions.
Select your municipality from the area menu. You can compare the results of your own municipality with those of other municipalities as well as with the results of the wellbeing services county and the whole country.
The results for each municipality are public. It is important to discuss the results with municipal decision-makers, educational institution staff, students, guardians or other actors, for example.
The Tableau results view for educational institutions includes all the results of the educational institution and the strengths and areas for development highlighted from them. You can compare the results with the results of your education provider and municipality, the wellbeing services county and the whole country. Logging in requires a password.
Logging in to educational institutions results (in Finnish, Tableau)
You'll need an educational institution-specific password. A link to the results and a password will be sent by email to the contact person of the educational institution. You can log in to the service with the password in your email.
Logging in to educational institutions results (in Finnish, Tableau)
It is important to discuss the results with your educational institution's staff, students, guardians or other actors, for example.
A message about the results of educational institutions with at least 20 respondents is sent to the contact person of the educational institution to a single email address, most commonly the principal.
More than one person can use the educational institution’s password. You can agree with the principal at the educational institution to whom it is appropriate to share the password.

The appearance of the results is based on a standardized change in the indicator's range. In other words, the results are examined in relation to the result of the whole country or the previous data collection.
You can download the results as images, in PowerPoint format, or take a screenshot.
Check all the selections in the filters in the result view. For example, whether the chosen area is correct and whether the target group corresponds to the correct level of education. Some indicators are only visible for certain levels of education.
The result of the indicator is not displayed
- for the results of the educational institution if the number of respondents is less than 20 per question, or if the number of respondents is less than 50 and the number of cases is less than 5.
- for the results of the education provider, municipality, wellbeing services county or the whole country if the number of respondents is less than 30 per question, or if the number of respondents is less than 60 and there are fewer than 5 cases.
If the number of respondents is not enough to show the results of girls or boys separately, only the Total result is shown. The total result also includes those respondents who have not declared their official gender.
The reasons may include:
- The question on which the indicator was based was not asked in the 2025 questionnaire.
- The question has been changed so that the indicator is no longer comparable.
- The negative indicator has been changed to positive (e.g. "Doesn't eat breakfast every weekday morning" has been changed to "Eats breakfast every weekday morning").
- One of the indicators based on the same question has been removed, because the corresponding data can be found in the database cube in the distribution of the question (e.g. Very satisfied with his life) or from Sotkanet (e.g. Tried cannabis at least twice).
In 2017–2023, the results of educational institutions also include those who responded to a narrow, easy-to-read questionnaire, while they are not included in the municipality-specific results.
In 2025, the institution-specific results of vocational institutions include students under the age of 21 completing a vocational qualification and TUVA-students, while the municipality-specific results are limited to those under the age of 21 completing a vocational upper secondary qualification.
The results can be examined according to the origin which the respondent has given:
- Finnish background
- foreign background, born in Finland
- foreign background, born abroad.
For more information, see the classification of origin.
The results can be viewed by background factors if there are at least 50 respondents in the area belonging to the background group in question.
Questions about the implementation of the survey
The next data collection will be held in spring 2027. The response groups are:
- Students in grades 4 and 5 of basic education
- Students in grades 8 and 9 of basic education
- 1st and 2nd year students in general upper secondary schools
- 1st and 2nd year students in vocational institutions.
In general upper secondary schools, the survey is targeted at those who are completing the syllabus for young people in general upper secondary education or a foreign qualification, and in vocational institutions at those under the age of 21 who are studying for a vocational upper secondary qualification.
More detailed instructions and materials will be delivered to the educational institutions by email and letter about a week before the start of the response period for the school level in question.
Check the material you receive to make sure that the name, level of education and contact information of the educational institution are correct. Also check the mailing list sent by letter to make sure that you have received enough material.
The School health promotion study is answered under the guidance of the teacher during the lesson. The instructions for the survey have been prepared accordingly.
Reserve at least 45 minutes for the survey so that the survey can be continued during the break, if necessary. The survey is answered during the study day under the supervision of the teacher. You can choose the times that suit the agenda.
It is not recommended that the entire educational institution responds at the same time. Responding to student groups at different times reduces the load on information systems and the information network.
In some cases, your school's firewall settings might prevent you from responding. A weak network connection at the educational institution can also slow down the answering process. In these situations, students can answer on their own devices.
If necessary, order additional login credentials required by the respondents on the additional order form using the additional order credentials at the top of the contact person's instructions, if possible for the entire educational institution at the same time. It takes about 1-2 weeks for an additional order to be delivered.
