Non-discrimination and gender equality
Our aim is to lead the way in equality in Finnish society. We produce up-to-date information on gender equality for different actors in society and regularly implement extensive research projects related to equality and non-discrimination. Whenever possible, we also take the gender perspective into account in all our data collections and production of statistics.
Promoting equality and non-discrimination in our work
We actively develop and monitor our activities through both an operational and a personnel policy plan for equality and non-discrimination.
The working group on gender equality and non-discrimination is responsible for updating, monitoring and evaluating the plans. The group is chaired by Director Piia Aarnisalo and vice-chaired by Director of Administration and Finance Mia Nykopp. The implementation of the personnel policy plan is overseen by Wellbeing at Work Manager Leena Kanerva. The working group includes representatives from all departments across the organisation.
The tasks of the working group on gender equality and non-discrimination are to:
- assess the state of gender equality and non-discrimination within THL
- promote and monitor the implementation of the objectives and measures set out in THL’s operational plan for equality and non-discrimination, and regularly update the plan
- support the updating and monitoring of THL’s personnel policy plan for equality and non-discrimination.
We also monitor the realisation of gender equality and non-discrimination through regular staff wellbeing surveys and as part of our annual reporting. In addition, training on equality and non-discrimination is included in our organisation-wide training programme and forms part of the induction material for new employees.
