Infectious Disease Control and Vaccinations Unit

  • directs, supports and develops national monitoring and surveillance systems for infectious diseases and the national vaccination programme
  • conducts surveillance of infectious diseases and evaluates infectious disease threats as well as the population-level impacts of vaccines
  • supports and, if necessary, conducts outbreak investigations and draws up national guidelines for infectious disease control
  • procures and supplies vaccines for the national vaccination programme
  • arranges national and international training on the prevention and control of infectious diseases and vaccinations
  • is part of an international network of authorities that monitors and controls infectious diseases (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control ECDC, World Health Organisation WHO).
