Evaluation of research applications
Research applications submitted to THL Biobank will be evaluated in a three step -process:
- THL Biobank Front desk first checks the validity of the technical documents required for application.
- In the second phase, experts in the biobank will check that the requested samples and data are available for the planned research project and may also request additional information from the researcher to support the application.
- The actual scientific evaluation of research applications will be carried out by the impartial THL Biobank's evaluation board established for this purpose. The evaluation board consists of the experts working in THL and representing several scientific fields. All members of the board have a duty of confidentiality. The board gives a joint statement proposing approval or rejection of the application.
The final decision of the approval is made the Director of THL Biobank, Tiina Wahlfors.

The evaluation board meets approximately once a month.
