Information management in Finland
Finland's social welfare and health care service system has changed since 1.1.2023 when welfare regions started. Finland is divided into 21 welfare regions, which are responsible for organising social and health services. Services are provided by both public and private organisations. Public services are mainly financed by the state and private services by customer fees.

Nationally consistent information management
The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) provides steering and support to both social and health service providers, system manufacturers and system suppliers regarding the management of patient and client data.
Goal of national steering is to ensure timely access to high quality client and patient data safely, securely and in a way which supports fluent work by health and social service professionals and secondary use.
