International cooperation and projects

International collaboration is an integral and statutory element of THL’s daily expert work and activities. THL’s international activities in health information management include influencing legislation, architecture, data structures and standardisation, as well as information management models and tasks.

Our goal is to promote building cross-border health services in Europe. THL share the expertice gained at national level to the international development.

THL is engaged in wide-ranging development cooperation in information management social and health sector. THL also takes part in development of data resources in issues of strategic importance to Finland.

Cooperative groups

THL participates in several Nordic and European cooperative groups  promoting standardisation.

  • Nordclass / WHO Family of International Classifications, 
  • European projects and groups with European commission and member states,
  • ISO and CEN standards organizations,
  • Nordic council of ministers working groups

Nordic cooperation

  • Nordic Commons (2/2022 - 10/2023) is a project with the aim of testing solutions and practical approaches to sharing health data between regional and national actors in the Nordic countries.
