Follow-up of registers

Follow-up information from essential nationwide health registers has been linked to the data of the participants from the beginning of the survey (Method folder 1.16, 1.16.A – 1.16.G) .

The registers cover:

• Statistics Finland (death and cause of death) (1964−)
• Finnish Cancer Registry (1953−) (Method folder 1.16.E)
• Drug Reimbursement Register, Social Insurance Institution (1964−) (Method folder 1.16.C)
• Register on Disability Pensions (1966−1995)
• National Hospital Discharge Register (HILMO) (1969−; checked and manually corrected information has been added until 1994) (Method folder 1.16.D)

The follow-up was started in 1966 and the follow-up information is updated every year. The permissions needed are updated at regular intervals.
