Perinatal statistics - parturients, deliveries and newborns

Description of statistics

The statistics contain data on parturients, births and newborns. Key indicators include number of parturients, age, BMI and mode of delivery. The statistics also contain data on the most important delivery procedures as well as birth weight and perinatal mortality.

The Medical Birth Register contains, from 1987 onwards, data on all births in Finland. The statistics present data in the form of absolute figures and percentages by whole country and by hospital district. In addition, the total numbers of parturients are given by hospital. The statistics are published every year in autumn.
