The Department of Healthcare and Social Welfare
- researches and assesses both the functionality, effectiveness and costs of the health and social service system as well as the service needs of the population
- supports the development and coordination of health and social services and social security, taking into account special groups and services for different age groups
- supports wellbeing services counties and municipalities in developing services by providing expertise, information and data to support regional and national planning, decision-making and co-creation
- monitors and assesses the effectiveness of national programmes and supports their implementation
- researches factors affecting health, wellbeing functional capacity and safety
- develops and assesses interventions to prevent functional deficits and harms.
