The Department of Safety
- coordinates child welfare and work against violence at the national level and supports the development and steering of services
- improves competence and the knowledge base related to violence and child welfare through project and research activities
- acts as a national centralised forensic centre of expertise (forensic medicine and forensic chemistry)
- sees to the performance management of the state child welfare units, state mental hospitals and the prisoner’s health care unit.
