COVID‑19 vaccination coverage

In Finland, nearly 650 000 covid booster doses were administered during the 2025–2026 season. The number of administered booster doses has decreased annually. This is partly due to the narrowing of the target groups in the covid vaccination recommendations.

Overall booster coverage in the population was about 11 percent during the 2025–2026 season. Coverage among those aged 75 and over was nearly 63 percent, which is about 2 percent lower than in the previous season. Among those aged 80 and over, the coverage was about 63 percent.

Variation in vaccination coverage between wellbeing services counties

The coverage of covid booster vaccinations varied between wellbeing services counties. The highest coverage in the total population was over 16 percent in the South -Savo wellbeing services county. The lowest coverage was below 9 percent in the Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county.

About the data in more detail

Description of the statistics

THL monitors covid vaccination coverage and reports in real time on the progress of vaccinations using the national vaccination register.

Due to issues related to recording vaccinations and transferring data, the actual vaccination coverage may be higher than the figures in the vaccination register.

Update schedule

The coverage data will next be updated in autumn 2026 to cover the entire 2025–2026 vaccination season.
