Course description and learning objectives
The Barnahus online course provides professionals with tools to identify violence against children and to act in situations where violence is suspected. In addition, the course offers practical tools for everyday work that enable supporting a child who has experienced violence.
Duration and content of the course
The Barnahus online course, including additional reading materials, is designed to correspond to one ECTS credit unit in higher education. One credit equals approximately 27 hours of student work. Depending on prior knowledge and experience, the workload per credit may vary individually.
The course includes texts, videos and assignments. It consists of four modules:
- Violence against children as a phenomenon
- Consequences of violence for the child
- Identification and intervention
- Supporting a child who has experienced violence in everyday life
Important information about the course
At the end of the course, you can take an exam and receive a certificate of completion. If you wish to include the course as part of your studies, please confirm credit recognition with your course instructor before completing it.
The course is available in Finnish, Swedish and English.
