MaCoDeExSe project

MaCoDeExSe is an abbreviation of the project  Maintenance and Continuous Development of Existing Services under MyHealth@EU infrastructure in Finland. 

The MaCoDeExSe project funding will strengthen the maintenance of cross-border health services in production in Finland. The development phases of eHDSI infrastructure (MyHealth@EU) require changes to the services in production. Also, the inclusion of new Member States in the services will require different testing and validation work in Finland. The interoperability of the codes used, the merging of equivalences and translations need to be maintained. 

Why is this important?

Together with other European Union Member States, Finland is involved in developing cross-border health services in Europe. EU countries can exchange health data securely and efficiently through the digital health service infrastructure (MyHealth@EU). This system ensures continuity of care for EU citizens as they move across borders. Citizens can easily identify the services available through the MyHealth@EU (MyHealth@EU).

Electronic prescription and electronic dispensing have been implemented for cross-border health services in 2019 in Finland. During the year 2024 cross border Patient Summary will be deployed into production.

Project information

The project is funded for the period 2024-2026. The project is implemented by the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela).

THL is responsible for the semantic interoperability of services and the legal rules and essential requirements for patient information systems. Kela is responsible for the technical interoperability of the services and acts as the National Contact Point of eHealth (NCPeH).
