Finnish Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) Datasets

The PGC Datasets contain genome wide SNP data for cases and matched controls of Finnish origin for the following diseases: schizophrenia, anorexia and autism spectrum disorder. In addition to the genomic data, only the affection status of each sample donor (affected/unaffected) and the gender are provided.

Schizophrenia datasets:

186 cases and 929 controls
360 cases and 1082 controls

  • All the cases are from the THL Psychiatric Family Collections (THL/ THL Biobank)
  • The controls are from several different population-based cohorts: The National FINRISK Study (THL/ THL Biobank), Health 2000 (THL/ THL Biobank), Northern Finland Birth Cohorts (University of Oulu/ Arctic Biobank)

Anorexia dataset:

131 cases and 524 controls

  • All the cases and controls are from the Finnish Twin Cohorts (University of Helsinki/ THL Biobank)

Autism spectrum disorder dataset:

159 cases and 526 controls

  • All the cases are from the Autism Spectrum Disorder Family Study (University of Helsinki and THL)
  • The controls are from several two different population-based cohorts: Health 2000 (THL/ THL Biobank), and Northern Finland Birth Cohorts (University of Oulu/ Arctic Biobank)

Access to Finnish PGC datasets

The PGC genotype datasets are hosted by the PGC Consortium and the permission to access the data can be applied using THL Biobank’s access portal, REMS. The application is reviewed and approved by all Institutes which own the data (relevant cohort PIs), and the formal access permission is compiled by THL Biobank’s administrative team.
