Health care services

Contains information on access to treatment in units offering specialised care in primary health care. Official bodies supervising the implementation of access to treatment include the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira), as well as the Regional State Administrative Agencies. The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) produces the information for Valvira and the Regional State Administrative Agencies that are needed for supervision.

Continuity of Care statistics contain information on outpatient care activities in primary health care based on the data in the Register of Primary Health Care Visits. The statistics describes the area of continuity of care from the perspective of the average continuity of the care relationship and interaction between the patient and the professional during outpatient visits to primary health care. The statistics contain information on the continuity of care separately for appointments with physicians and nurses, in three different target groups. In the statistical report, there is reporting on how health examinations conducted in accordance with regulations, and other types of visits have been implemented in maternity and child health care based on information derived from reports on out-patient care in primary health care (Avohilmo). Also collected in the register is information on complications and in cases of repeat surgery, on removed prosthetic devices and the reasons for the new surgery.

The statistics include information on the producers of the services, the use of the services by the population, the availability of treatment, health problems among the population, the spread of epidemics, the home municipality and gender of the customer/patient, visits according to age group, outpatient visits according to forms of service, reasons for visits, procedures and further treatment, medication and vaccines, and check-ups to promote the health of expectant mothers as well as children and young people. Information is given on the days and phases of treatment of patients in wards, as well as on the places of treatment evaluated as the most suitable.

Information on courses of treatment in institutional and ward treatment (incl.
