Perinatal statistics – parturients, deliveries and newborns

Statistics on parturients, deliveries and newborns at national level, by hospital district, and by type of hospital.

The biennial statistical reports Newborns (odd-numbered years) and Delivery Procedures in Finland by Hospital (even-numbered years) are published in alternate years. They are published after the primary report at the end of the year. The statistics are published across two-year periods in order to reduce random variation.

Perinatal statistics in the Nordic countries

The statistics, published every other year (even-numbered years), are based on data in the Nordic birth registers. The national-level data is published every year. THL is responsible for compiling and publishing the statistics.
